Ryan & Kasia's Travels
Hello again,
Since we last spoke we have had a little of a lighter schedule but are still stayin busy. Kasia's cousin Marta skipped school on Monday to take us to the Museum of the rise of Warsaw during WW2. A little history behind the rise of Warsaw is: Throughout the war as some of you might already know, Poland got pushed around and wasn't a problem for the Germans. Concentration camps were put in Poland and Fuhrer Hitler ordered everything in the country to be destroyed. So in August of 1944, the people of Warsaw decided to make a stand and protect their city. They fought relentlesly despite being bombed, gassed, and cut off from outside food drops. They had to eventually surrender in October-only 2 months later. If you go back to our first photo album there are some pictures of us standing in front of the law courts and there is a huge monument to the people fighting back. Anyway, the museum is dedicated to these events. There is info on every single day during those 2 months. Every article in the museum is authentic. Even the Nazi war plane is 100% real. Notice the nose and tail of the plane have a spot for soldiers to sit and shoot. It was a humbling experience, and there was some extremely gruesome photos and videos of the tragedies that occurred. Because I enjoy learning about this part of history, it was one of the most interesting things I have ever seen. It was a very big place and took 3 hrs to see everything and would take me hrs to tell you everything so I will tell you later in person.
Next we went back to old town and Auntie Asia bought us a beautiful oil painting for a wedding present.
On Tuesday we went to the market.....CRAZY!!! It was bigger than you could even imagine. There was tonnes of clothes, shoes, cameras, fishing equipment. There are more things that I maybe shouldn't talk about on a public website. Seriously, crazy stuff...But I can tell you that I bought some fire crackers. Big Ones.
Need to go now, so I will update some more later. Hope everyone is doing good and I'll be listening to the Oilers tonight on 630CHED internet radio.
