Kari goes to Lincoln, England
I woke up today at 7.30 when my alarm went off and I looked to see if Danielle was up because we were going to eat breakfast together before she left for the airport at 7.30. She got up a little before 8 and told me to stay in bed. Are you kidding me? I am not going to see her until we both get back to MN of course I can get up and have breakfast with her. So we headed downstairs for some cornflakes and toast, traditional hostel food. We got eating around 8.30 and had to say goodbye - it was kind of sad. The last two weekends were a lot of fun. I had to get ready in a hurry because it was close to nine and I didn't know how long it would take me to get to Kings Cross from the hostel and I also had to check on the train times to Lincoln because I had forgotten my schedule but thought it was around 10am.
I left the hostel a little before 9 and arrived at Kings Cross about 9.20. I figured out that my train left at 10.03 but it wasn't on the platform yet so I just walked around for a while. They didn't post the platform for the train until 9.55 and then it was delayed because of track work somewhere so we didn't leave until 10.20 and I think the train had arrived late also but I didn't really understand what the guy said.
I was a little confused for a while as to what country I was in because the only language I could hear around me was German. There was this group of teenagers in my carriage and I think they were a tour group from Germany. I think it was just them and me because all I could hear was German, but it was interesting. My train got to Newark North Gate at 11.43 and my train to Lincoln left at 11.45 and I got home at 12.10, which was only a few minutes behind schedule so they must have made good time. I thought for sure I was going to miss my connecting train but didn't or they had an extra, I am really not sure. Put it this way, I wasn't going to complain.
I got home and downloaded the pictures and checked the email and showered and tried to make sense of some stuff. I was eating lunch when Steph came into make lunch and freaked out because there were dishes everywhere and not one had done them yet. She cranked up the music, and started a cleaning frenzy and cleaned everything in sight, the floors, countertops etc. I thought it was really funny that she was freaking out about not being a mom. I hovered the carpet part for her but then had to get to the library. I found some books that I could get good ideas from for my project and sat down and started typing. I was caught up in working when they announced that the library was closing in 15 minutes and I hadn't even looked at my books yet. Oh well, as much as I dislike carrying heavy books across campus I could check them out. But not today because I didn't have my card with me. Opps. I had planned on getting a lot done in the library tonight but I guess I should have checked the times that it was open or at least brought my card with me because now I was going to get even less done.
Oh well. I went back to my room and caught up on emails and began uploading pictures to my website until it was 6.30 and I had to meet with the three other girls who I am going to Ireland with. We were going to meet tonight to plan things because we are leaving on Wednesday morning at 8.27 on the train. We tried to book a hotel but it wouldn't work with either Annette's or Shannon's card so that was really frustrating especially when we had just spent two hours finding it. Then we booked a car to drive around Ireland. We are taking a train to Manchester and then flying to Dublin arriving early afternoon. We are going to pick up the car and start driving and see the more southern part of Ireland and continue that into Thursday. We are going to spend Friday and Saturday in Dublin for the holiday and then see something else on Sunday. We are flying out early on Monday morning and are going to spend the day in Manchester before our train back to Lincoln that night. It should be a fun time and I am really excited.
I got back to my room around 9 and am trying to get as much stuff done tonight as I can. The next few days are going to be insane trying to get lots of homework done and get ready for Ireland...yay!!!! It's been a good night though tonight just hanging out and talking to people on MSN. My friend Kip called me on Skype and that was nice to talk to him again. I also got to talk to my little sister Lori and friend Katie on MSN. Fun Fun Fun. Keep in touch everyone and leave me posts on my message board or send me an email because I would love to hear from you.
