Kari goes to Lincoln, England
We landed in London at the Heathrow Airport around 9:15AM. We had to fill out a landing card and go through customs. It was really easy to find our luggage as our plane had been super empty due to the delay. There was another flight that left DC at the same time and that one was full because they didn't know when ours was going to leave. It took two minutes and we all had our luggage - we found Tom the professor from Lincoln who was picking us up right away. The biggest challenge was fitting into the tiny car even though he had rented a bigger one. We almost didn't fit. Jason and I had a suitcase between us and I had one on my lap. It was my 65lb bag so I was a little stiff when we got there. On the way to Lincoln we stopped at a Supermarket called Sainsburys with a deli in it and I had my first English Breakfast - not the greatest. Then we had two more hours to go until we arrived in Lincoln. I slept a lot of the way after this and woke a little before Lincoln and there are pictures of coming into Lincoln. We checked in and got our keys and to our courts we went. I live in an apartment with 5 other people. We all have our own rooms and bathrooms (see pics) and share this kitchen/lounge area. When I arrived they were all very welcoming and helpful - a lot of this is a blur. I found out that one likes country music, but don't remember who told me that. Two of them are also media production majors and I had to clarify this one later. They are pretty cool - I live with three other girls and two guys. I unpacked and showered and then used Ellies computer to email people to let them know that I had arrived safely. Later there was a little bit of drama and Steph ended up punching Dan, but I missed it because Viv was in my room and I was talking to her, not quite what I had expected for the first day, but both of them did apologize for it even though I was not bothered by it. My flatmates were going to go to The Shed, which is a bar on campus and invited me to come along. My first legal drink in England and I forgot my camera. Ellie and I were only there for an hour and came back. I wrote in my journal for a while and got sleepy so I went to bed around 10PM.
