Karen's Travels
Back again
A very lazy day today; didn't get out of bed until 9am - luxury. Swimming in warm waters by 10.45 - what a way to start the day! Caught a 'sawngthaew' (kind of truck) to another beach - Coral Cove. Much quieter than the beach where we are staying and no hawkers. Lots interesting rock formations and the beautiful palm trees which we are getting used to seeing everywhere. Another swim. In transit, we met a couple from Devon who have just retired, sold up and bought two properties in Turkey. They are spending 6 weeks here. There are lots of fish, quite small, which swim around your feet in the shallow waters - and I saw my first sea cucumbers which are very long, rather thick black creatures, something like an eel. Stepped around dozens of them! Had a cup of tea - another luxury as I have been sticking to water mostly. Took a photo of a small lizard Heidi spotted in the undergrowth. Have not been attacked by mosquitos yet, but came out in a heat rash today and have a bit of a stomach upset - due to heat, I think, rather than food, which is tasty.
As I write, Heidi and Jane have gone to see a Thai boxing match, which I didn't fancy so, from here, I will wander along the trip (loads of people, Mum, so don't worry!), buy some postcards, then go back to our room to do my washing and have a read. Quite nice to have some time alone when I can.
Haven't received too many messages on my message board, so come on everyone! Where are you! Good to hear from you, Val, and Kent. Thinking about you all. Love Karen x
