Hi everyone it has been an eventful last week in the lovely Taupo. We went to a blues picnic on saturday which was a concert to raise money for the christchurch earthquake appeal which was really fun.
The on sunday we did the Tongario (Death) Crossing which is a famous apline walk over a mountain. It is where Mount Doom in the Lord of the Rings is and you can see why it was beautiful. Apart from Scootroo it is the most dangerous thing i have ever done clinging onto the side of a mountain rock face trying not to fall. The sliding down the otherside trying not to fall into the volcanic crater. Reading what to do if you were on the volcanic mountain if it erupted was interesting to. Despite having the correct hiking boots i have ended up with some great blisters but kurt that only had trainers on was fine. The walk was 19.4 KM over the moutnain terain and i am feeling every bit of that today. Kurt however has gone to work with someone from the hostel, bum and hips aching like hell. Pain full looking photos will be uploaded to facebook shortly.
We have just orgainised for some flowers to be deleived to Jb as well as a thank you and although are excited about going somewhere new done want to leave our safety blanket of the Berkenhoff Lodge, but we know we should probably see the rest of New Zealand before we go. We are really lucky as well as JB and Albie on top of our skydive, Tongorio Crossing got us some BBh Cards which are work 80 dollars free for us to. We havnt done to bad on freebies in the NZ either. We got a lovely Kiwi statue and a hefty bonus of 300 dollars from our boses and Allie gave us a cussly new zealand sheep and a stunning hook ornament.
Iv just seen my messsage didnt send but ill update you with some more. We finally got to Blenheim, after a dodgy start from Taupo to Wellington. After going out the night before which was not clever and realising i probably suffer from travel sickness I was sick on the coach. W then stayed in Wellignton which from what it seemed looked nice enough the walk up the hill to the hsotel at 8pm was not the best but we got there. The hostel was oldish and the windows did not stand up to the wind of Wellington if they did have an earthquake then this one would not be left standing.
We got up early and got the ferry from Wellington to PIcton. I managed not to be sick on the ferry and the Marlborough Sounds crossing had stunning scenery. We then was picked up by Diana our new boss. The hostel is different but nice Blenheim has a lot of workers living here and not many tourists. The hostel is run more relaxed then the berkenhoff such as they dont really chase people for money, im sure this will change now. We are due to be here for 3 months and then we will hopefully get to see the rest of the south island
We have sent back to kurts two packages with some of our stuff in.
Love you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
