Hi all back from our travels to Kaikoura. The 3 week stint at the hostel went well and the boss was really pleased with how we run it and the amount of money we took, just have to tell her we are leaving now in August lol.
Kaikoura was beautiful and it was so nice to have some time away from the hostel. The first day and night we went for a long walk to the seal colony it was so pretty. Didn't need to go far and we virtually tripped over a sea lion on the side of the road, then realized why all the cars were backing up lol. We treated ourselves to a nice meal but had an early night as all the walking made us shattered lol.
The hostel we stayed at was nice we treated ourselves to a budget small double which has a TV which is a luxury when traveling lol. The only problem was that both nights we had some idiots from the Kiwi experience bus which we like to call bus w***ers keep us up most of the night, drunk and talking rubbish or arguing lol.
We were due to do the swimming with dolphins on Sunday but when it got nearer, the ocean looked very choppy and the women said they had to cancel it in the morning as they didn't see any dolphins, so we decided to leave it till later on in the trip. Instead we went horse trekking. It was amazing one of the best experiences I have had in New Zealand. It was the first time Kurt had been on a horse to which was great, the funniest thing was his face when we got back, after the horse had been trotting he was in a lot of pain lol. Although he was going fairly fast and just being told to sit while the horse runs isn't the best advice lol. He kept saying I'm sure they should have given me a cup lol. The views were so great every 15 minutes the view changed from ocean, to hiking threw the forests, the mountains and a then a walk threw the river, I couldn't fault it.
when we got back we did some sovereign shopping and then had some lunch in the pub we couldn't get in the night before. Then again it was an early night before getting up this morning and making our way back to Blenheim. As soon as we arrived our boss picked us up from the station saying she was doing a drop off which is unusual. Then when we got back she said I'm off now and will leave the hostel in your capable hands lol.. So we are back now.
Kurt is due back to the vineyards tomorrow, may not be for long tho as his arms are in a lot of pain from the pruning so we will see. All is well here hope everyone is well back home.
Love you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
