Happiness Is The Road
After waking up and noticing thankfully that we hadn't been eaten by the crocs we had our brekky. After this we hit the road. Kakadu National Park wasn't too far from here. We had been in two minds as to whether we Kakadid or Kakadidn't! We decided against Kakadu. It sounded like it was going to be much too touristy for us and possibly a lot like Litchfield National Park which simply hadn't done it for us. Also there was quite a steep park fee to get into Kakadu and we thought it would be a waste of our money. Part of the literature on Kakadu stated 'People need to come here and relax, sit on the country, feel the spirits of this country and go home and feel the same way'. I doubt very much we would have been able to feel the true spirit of the place with 'woop woopers' seemingly in abundance. It's a shame that people generally these days (with few exceptions) have no consideration for others. My observation is that this lack of consideration is becoming more and more prevalent. It is a great shame that the world is so full of these inconsiderate people causing anti social behaviour. Instead we drove back to the Stuart Highway and Katherine stopping on the way for fuel at Pine Creek. When we got to Katherine we headed west on the Victoria Highway towards Western Australia. But WA was still just under 500 kilometres away. We stopped at the Manbulloo Homestead Caravan Park which was just a few kilometres outside Katherine. It was a really great place with the caravan park being attached to a working farm. The site was lovely and quiet and we chilled till bedtime. It was a lot less hot here than up in Darwin.
