Today was lovely and short with only a two hour drive from Longreach to Winton.
We got into Winton about 11 and had a quick look around the town and visited the waltzing Matilda centre, was really interesting. It was all about waltzing Matilda, old machinery, trains and a mini qantas museum. Once we had finished there we headed about 3 kms out of town to our first free campsite for the trip the long waterhole. Quiet a pretty little place on a waterhole, you must get here early to get a shady site though. We quickly set up and had some lunch and went back into town to have a look at Arno's wall and the musical fence. We then headed back to camp to relax for the afternoon on the banks of the waterhole. Off to Diamantina national park with a stop off on the way to see the dinosaur stamped tomorrow.
