Good day all!
Amy and I had a FANTASTIC peking duck meal. Really quite extraordinary. We also were able to go the the opera after the summer palace yesterday. But I should explain...
We woke up early for the changing of the guards at the square, which we missed somehow. Then we searched out a bank and Amy began to stress because her cards aren't being accepted. Another bank will take her debit but not her credit card. Fun fun fun. She can't get ahold of her bank at the moment so she's a wee bit stressed.
However, yesterday was spent walking around the summer palace. Gorgeous place. I took a ton of pictures. A friendly young guy named Yan yan said we were beautiful and asked for a picture with us. A creepy old man said "Mmmmm very nice. Very nice. Looks Goooooood" in a voice that sounded way too Borat to be real. Takes all sorts I suppose.
Today we also woke up early to go to the Great Wall. We hiked from Jiang-something to Simatai. Four hours of hiking. It ain't easy either. We were exhausted by the end but we felt like we really conquered the wall. You only live once, after all.
We've also conquered the Beijing subway and will be using it tomorrow to get to the Lama temple and some shopping. If Amy can destress a bit that is. She does have access to money, she may just have to wait until she's in another country before she can get ahold of the bank. But I don't blame her for stressing. I would be stressed out too. I'm more than willing to front her money if she needs it.
As I was writing this, a bee (I think it was a bee, could be a horsefly) stung me in the armpit and it has swollen up. That figures. We bought some lychee nuts today and will be doing a looot more shopping tomorrow.
Don't worry mom, my feet are doing wonderfully!
Love you all!
