Still in Hong Kong but we haven't been able to adapt to the time difference. Not being able to sleep until 3 or 4 am is a real pain when you've not got much money, it's really hot and you have a crazy roommate!
Yesterday we managed to leave the hostel by 2pm and went to HK island, having a look around and saw a temple. The main part of the day was spent at the Peak, which we got the tram up to. There are some really nice views up there but I think it looks much better when it's dark. We got the ferry back to Kowloon whilst the light show was going on, which was quite cool as we coukd see flashing lights from.both sides! That night we had an expensive but not filling dinner and retreated back to the hostel in more futile attempts at getting an 'early night'. Although, upon seeing our roomate in the room (pretending to be asleep) we just sat outside in the 'garden' area- really it's just a few potted plants dotted around. I didn't want any more altercations after she made us leave our shoes outside the night before and basically gave us a 1am curfew if we wanted the light on. However, while we were sitting outside she kept moving about, in and out of the room! And when we were trying to sleep, kept complaining about the people outside making too much noise! We're not getting on.
Today we went to the island of Lantau to see the 'big Buddah'. What we didn't realise was that on Sundays, public transport is a fair bit more expensive and ended up paying loads to get there! The Buddah was quite good, not the most impressive thing I've seen but not disappointing. With a name like 'big Buddah' it would be hard to disappoint as it is indeed a statue of Buddah and quite big! The rest of the day was spent walking about and then getting the ferry back to our island.
It's back to pot noodles tonight!
