Well a few days have passed since the minor gas explosion only to be attempted to be flooded out by a heavy rainfall. I have the top-most apartment and it seems like they did not seal the roof correctly so consequently when I received a call while studying say that the apartments were flooding I didnt believe them until I walked into the bedroom. Ok, so there was some water leaking through the ceiling and I mopped up 5 litres from the bathroom floor as well. Luckily none in the lounge although it has soaked up at a plasterboard join.
Bogota is a busy city especially now that Christmas is coming, lights are up everywhere putting London to shame really. From an environmental point of view it uses a lot of energy although I will say that they seem to be far advanced in terms of using energy saving bulbs, LED bulbs, time delay on the switches and so on, so I guess it balances. It is very nice though, the photgraphs in my album probably dont really do it justice.
Its a little strange trying to adapt to all these apartments, even in London we have a lot of houses, here its predominantly apartments, houses are a rarity (I have included some photos). However over here they have a grass park with children areas which are nice slightly more tranquil places to get away from the office or the busy roads. Each is well maintained apart from the paths. Both paths and roads here seem to lack any degree of maintenance. Literally, its a case of driver/user responsibility. I think Lina managed to ground her car twice in the last few days on a hole in the middle of the street.
I got out for a walk today after finally handing in my 1st Assignment (hurrah) so I have a little more free time to study and get out. The morning was gorgeous, lovely sunshine, I was too hot in a t-shirt. Walked around a bit, spotted two beautiful T-Birds parked outside one place and a classic 351 mustang at another. Also took some other photos of the parks, apartments and houses I saw. I will try to quarter off the nearest 25 streets or so and walk the area over a few days. Get to know my surroundings a bit more!
Oh there is an interesting sign within the library photos, I cannot really imagine a shop with an advertisement like that in London, although i have to say it would stop the crowds!
Otherwise, not a lot to report, going to start some studying in a minute so good luck to you all and sorry to hear it is so cold over there!
