The first day we took a bumpy bus ride through rocky terrain and began to trek. Walking with all our gear we eventually reached our first checkpoint, at 1400 meters. We ate lunch, dinner and ended our first night playing euchre, anticipating day two. Waking up early the next morning, our endeavors led us up three 3200 stairs and through the jungle, walking over rickety suspension bridges and along side waterfalls. Four hours later and our legs full of cramps, we reached checkpoint two at 2800 meters. The following morning we woke up at 5:00am, to see the sun rise up over the Annapurna mountains from Poonhill. With the past few days of fog, we were unsure about what we would see, but the morning turned out clear and our eyes were witnessing one of the most incredible things we have ever seen. We reached the highest point of Poonhill at 3210 meters. From this height we could see Tent peak, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche peak and Machhapuchhre also known as Fishtail. From there we began our descent down the hill, we arrived at our third guest house, Ghinu at 1800 meters but only minutes away from a few hot springs. Slowly making our way down, we reached our final checkpoint just before sunset. The skies were clear and the view was truly unbelievable! Standing in the middle of the Himalayan mountains, in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
