When we arrived in Vang Vieng yesterday afternoon, we checked into our hostel not knowing what to expect. Our beds are covered with mosquito nets and our rooms have no walls. As we venture on from Thailand on a boat no bigger than a canoe, we cross the Mekong river separating Thailand from Laos.
