So today we were all feeling hung over so we had a big sleep in and had a very easy start to the day. Cris made an amazing pasta and soybean mince for lunch followed by a ridiculously chocolatey chocolate cake! It is safe to say I have fallen in love with Portugal the people and the cities!
I have always known how wonderful Spain is and that it is somewhere I want to settle one day but now I have been to Portugal I am just as impressed!
We have a big night ahead - 90s rock party at a big club in town so I am guessing home at daybreak again!
Tonight Telma and I are going to a friends house and having dinner with Telmas sister and her friends. First at about 9pm we went to a restraint to pickup dinner - baby cow, rice and frites! When we arrived to the friends house everyone was already quiet merry having downed quite a few bottles. And so the night began - everyone could speak English and everyone was very friendly and kind so I really enjoyed myself. I tried a number of Portuguese Hams, cheeses and Pâtés and the main dish was incredibly. Soon the Martinis came out and next thing we know it's 2:30am and time to go to the party- which didn't start till 3am! The Party was all about 80s rock music and thankfully a lot of it was in English! I have to say once again that Portuguese people really know how to party - everyone there which I am guessing was a couple of hundred danced, drank and sung to all the old tunes of the past! People here just want to be with their friends and laugh and dance it makes for a wonderful atmosphere and very welcoming for foreigners - on nights like these I pinch myself and ask is all this really happening to me? Yes and it does all the time :) for all the bad times traveling the good ones far out way them and make all the small sacrifices worth while. At 7:30am we all went for breakfast and by 8ish we were home ready to sleep the day away.
I have found Solace in a small town named Guimeraes in the North of Portugal.
