The Long Road Home! We were all up early this morning for the promised hot chocolate and amazingly at 5:30am there it was ready for us. Day 5 Long hike Down!! Lastnight it was incredibly cold and the rain poured down for most of night and right near my tent a stream formed and had me feeling like I would be washed away. Breakfast was bit rough today with cold coffee and some kind of porridge - they must of ran out of food. Jose was keen to get going early so we headed off on the pouring rain and gale-force winds. DAY 4 Exploring the Lost World!! After all the whiskey lastnight I managed to sleep really well and wake just as breakfast was being served. Today we had Arepas and omelette again and hot coffee which at nearly 3000 meters up surely is a treat. It was already raining and super cold out so we started trekking by 7am. Day 3 Hiking up The Giant: lastnight I took a sleeping pill and managed to get a few hours of sleep which I was very thankful for. Day 2 - Trekking to Base Camp: I was up very early today and ready for some substanance after lastnights dismal dinner. Luckily the porter had made some coffee for himself so I asked and luckily was allowed some. The porter was busy boiling chicken and other things so chances are we might eat well today.
