Today there was no real plan so I got up early, did my yoga, checked my emails and relaxed a bit. Ana was cooking up a big feast today for lunch but as she had been out all night who knows when of if that would happen. So at about 11am I decided to go for a walk into the city. I followed the river down the hill and they had closed off the middle lane of the highway for walkers, cyclists, skateboarders and rollerbladers. This has to be my favorite thing about Medellin - people exercise and really take care of themselfs here, the women are athletic and beautiful and the city is so green, full of trees, plants and parks. Infront of one of the supermarkets Euro they had a free salsa class happening as I walked past and wow Colombians can dance, I have seen these big group salsa classes before but this one was a step above. I guess about 200 men and women - mostly women dancing what would appear as of a sexual nature to the outsider, I therefor had to stop and appreciate the art form. The weather in Medellins perfect - a cool 25 degrees with a constant valley breeze blowing, I really think if I was to live in Colombia this would be one of my top picks. When I got back lunch was ready a huge feast Jesus and Ana had been preparing - the name of the dish is Bandeja Paisa (Colombias National Dish). It was incredible to say the least with red bean soup, pork, rice, ground beef, chicharon, fried egg, plantain, vegetables, morcilla, avocado and passion fruit juice. It was so filling and delicious and easily the best meal I have eaten in Colombia. After lunch we went for a drive to a small town and had coffee with some of Ana's friends, Jesus was very kind and helped me practice my Spanish - I actually learned quite a but and am feeling motivated to learn Spanish now. We stopped at Ana's Auntys house on the way home and I got a chance to practice some more Spanish. After not such a great day yesterday today was much better and I have some new motivation.
