venice is absolutely amazing. unfortunately 15 minutes of internet access costs as much as the slice of pizza we had for dinner last night, so im not gonna be able to blog much at all. and i would rather spend the money on pizza anyway. ciao

now that i have a little time i can elaborate more on our time in venice. first of all, neither of us realized that the train station was only about 50 yards from the grand canal. so you basically walk out of the train station, and oyu are just in awe of what is in front of you. that was basically the best part of our first couple of hours in venice. the following two hours or so were spent wondering around venice trying to find a place to stay for the night. venice is like a maze, and the street signs and addresses dont mean anything really. you just pick a street and go, and half the time you pick a street that dead ends at the water. about the time when we were deciding wether we thought it would be better to spend money and stay in a hotel or sleep at the train station, we luckily found a relatively cheap hostel that had two beds becuase the people cancelled. the hotel was in campo santa margherita, which is a fun place. the only thing that stunk about the hostel was that the girl in our room snored louder than anybody i have ever heard. and it didnt stop all night. i was going to put a blanket over her head, but mike told me not to because she might freak out if she woke up with me hovering over her head with a blanket.
our first full day in venice we took the water taxi form the train station to plazza san marco. this is the only plazza and venice, and a pretty cool place. we spent the day walking around with a couple of morrettis and just wandering around. i gotta go before my internet runs out and i can log out. bye
