Welcome to JuneBug’s excellent adventures in China. Let’s be clear, I’m here on vacation, I am not here to meet my future ex-husband, pregnant or adopting, :)! I will be enjoying a fun filled adventure with my family. We last time travelled together in 2002 - we spent two full weeks at different Theme Parks in Florida. Instead of driving 16 hours to Florida, we’ll be flying 16 hours over the Pacific Ocean to China! The only one missing from that trip is my late older Brother, Ronald. It’s hard to believe he’s been gone for 10 months. I miss him. I’m sure he’ll be watching over us to ensure we have a safe trip.
I would like to introduce to you family members accompanying me to China since I will be referring to them throughout this trip. My family:
May (Older Sister) – Yes, I do have a Sister named another calendar month and no, she was not born in May, but in September. Yes, I do have another older Sister Julie (not on this trip), and she was born in May. I’m the only one born in the same month as my name.
Raphael (Brother-In-Law) – Trip Planner. He likes to run Marathons. He suggested the group plan a 10 mile hike along the Great Wall in 40⁰C plus weather. I’m in shape, but have no ambition to undertake such a trek. I’ve been carrying my golf bag and golfing @ Cedarhill most of the summer (approx 6km), sooo my thoughts are I’m good for 6 km (3 km one way along the Great Wall, and another 3 km for the return). I’ll keep you posted, !
Bryce (Eldest Nephew) - Heading off to U of T in September. This is Bryce’s last summer vacation without the stress and pressure of University studies. He’s a competitive Swimmer, so he’s in great shape and he should be good company for his Father during the 10 mile hike, :)!
Kyle (Younger Nephew) – Some friends may recall, he spent several summers with my late Brother and I in Ottawa attending Kevin Haime Golf Camps. Yes, this is the nephew I sent mistakenly with my late Brother to the psychiatric floor at Ottawa General one summer (long story, I will explain next time I see ya).
Kim is the daughter of my older Sister Julie. She currently is a full-time student at U of O. She joined a gym to get in shape for this trip since we’ll be doing a lot of walking/hiking. I think she’s in better shape than I since the only exercise I’ve done for these past few months is carry my golf bag around Cedarhill and once at Rivermead. I’ll let you know if that was enough training for this trip, :)!
We leave August 5th … When we land in Shanghai, I’ll be either sleeping or be so wired that I’ll be adding to this blog. Only 1 more sleep …
