I just came online to try and put my pictures up but so far, the electricity has cut off forcing us to sit there for 5 mins while our computers attempt to restart, we were still waiting so they suggested we move seats. Then I asked for a card reader so I could upload my pics, I couldn't get it to work, the woman here took it to another computer, she couldn't get it to work and when I got it back and put it in my computer I thought she had deleted all the photos, but she hadn't, this keyboard is RUBBISH though and I have to keep going back as the space bar doesn't work! Also, good job I can touch type as there are about 5 letters on the keys, the rest have all warn off!! Anyway, I think I'll go off down the road and try and find somewhere else because I can't log onto hotmail or send messages on facebook so what's the point!? lol.
Our flight's in 2 hours so I'd better hurry!
But firstly just quickly, yesterday, after we booked our flights, we got a moped and went for a drive. We went onto the 'super highway' -like the motorway, but we were on a moped with rubbish crash helmets on! It was, urm, an experience! To say the least! We decided to just drive and see where we went, then we headed towards Lampang after Caz said she recognised the name, so did I, but thought she recognised it for being in Chiang Mai. Turns out at the next sign that Lampang was a further 90km away!! So I said, maybe not! We went a little further and then turned off the main road, mainly because neither Caz or I could feel our bums! We were in a very Thai, very rural little village. We got back on and followed the roads around, it was beautiful, very green and peaceful, not many cars or motorbikes, just a few old men on bicycles and not one english sign! Well actually, one, which said tarot reading! But that was it. So we drove around. Took some pictures of the big, what I guess were some sort of wheat fields, but it was 5ish and it gets dark at 6. So we followed the windy road back but somehow got lost. So we stopped to ask, but noone spoke English. They were all baffled, when we said Chiang Mai they looked horrified as to them that was obviously VERY far away! Eventually, they found someone who spoke English but the directions were quite complex so he offered to show us and we followed him on his bike to just before the main road. We were very grateful! We got back on the big, scary road, with trucks driving right past us and everyone imagineable overtaking us, we were doing between 40 & 50km/ph but they weren't slowing down to that! Eventually we saw a sign for Chiang Mai and came off, but there was no other road signs so we asked again but the man didn't understand us so he just walked away. Showing people the map was of little use because the words were in English so if they don't speak it, they almost certainly can't read it! After 2 hours of trying to figure it out and going back and forth, I decided to take a smaller side road that looked like it went nowhere, then I saw a sign for tourist police so stopped there, we had accidentally taken the right road and they pointed us in the right direction and we were suddenly within the heart of Chiang Mai but still not near our resort and scared! We eventually saw the hospital that I went to a couple of days previously so was able to stop there and try and get our bearings (With a little help from the security guard and a translator) and we found a mexican restaurant we'd seen for a few days so stopped there for some well earned dinner! When we sat down we both took our hair out which was flat and stuck to our heads and yet was crazy at the same time, just then the waitress asked us to go up and pay and we were wetting ourselves saying its a good job noone knows us because we looked dreadful! I had an Enchilade with chicken which was delicious and Caz had homemade guacamole and chips and a taco. It was yummy and we sat chatting for so long after about anything and everything that we made room for dessert, I had a hot apple and cinnamon burrito with gorgeous vanilla ice cream on top and Caz had a vanilla sundae with crushed nuts. We thought it was a good job we stocked up on food stores in case we never made the 5 minute journey back to where we were staying! Noone else checked into the dorm last night so it was just Caz and I in the big room for 80B a night which is so cheap! When I went to open the door of the room something caught my eye as I recognised it. My favorite scarf that I take EVERYWHERE with me, you probably all know the one, its kind of green with a pattern and tassles, well I have been using it as a towel because I stupidly didn't bring a towel and hung it up to dry the last time we stayed at this place, I must have forgotten to take it in the morning and the lovely people there thought it would make a nice FLOOR MAT!! I whipped it up and clung to it although I shoved it straight into a carrier bag so I can get it washed at some point! If we never went back to that dorm I never would have found that scarf or probably remembered where I lost it! :o( Very glad to be reunited with it though! I really need a proper towel!! Anyway, that's everything up to date so I will try and let you all know what's going on in Laos!
