Hi all,
Just got back from 2 nights at Magnetic Island - let me tell you about it:
Arrived around 2.30 on Sunday to the sun shining - hurrah! I felt so cheerful that I splashed out an extra $3 a night to stay in a dorm called The Sanctuary. It's for girls only (I'm fed up sharing with stinky, snoring males!) and you get a lovely white fluffy towel and some Aveda products - lovely.
Met two girls in my dorm, Debs and Tania who invited me for drinks on the beach which is right on the doorstep of the hostel. Got showered and headed down armed with a leftover bottle of Malibu (I thought it would have been a nice summer drink to have on the Whitsundays - too bad it rained the whole time!)
Fast forward about 4 hours later and I was feeling pretty tipsy! We had dinner at the hostel and then decided to take our drinks back down to the beach. I had about 4 other new friends at this stage - amazing how once you've had a few drinks everyone becomes your friend!!
The beach had been closed off by a gate which was locked. No problem for old lanky here - I decided to climb over it. Perfect, I made it but lost my footing the other side. Fell down about 4 steps and onto some rocks! It didn't hurt - much!
Woke up on Monday morning feeling like I had been beaten up! Have counted about 15 bruises on my legs - how attractive! Got a free fry up at the hostel which was much needed after partying last night. That's it for me now - no more drinking - EVER!
It rained all day on Monday so there's pretty much nothing you can do in the rain. Did some washing and went to the shops to buy some arnica cream for my poor bruised legs. Made dinner and then went to bed. The new arrivals to my dorm Selena and Lucy did exactly what I did last night. They stumbled home around 1ish! Glad it's not just me then!
It's Tuesday now and I'm back in Townsville waiting for the bus to take me to Mission Beach for 3 nights. I'm then off to see some of my dad's family who I haven't seen in 20 years! Crazy stuff.
All for now. Will be reporting back in a few days once I've done my sky dive (yikes) and some white water rafting. I'm not sure which one I'm more scared about!
Loads of love,
Julie x
