Hi all,
Well, my last day in Brisbane on Wednesday was a bit of a wash out! It rained ALL day. It was a great excuse to go shopping. All the summer clothes are in the sale over here which is great for me but not for my bank balance! I did attempt to do some sight seeing but the rain was so bad, I wouldn't have got any decent photos.
Went to the cinema in the evening to see Pirates 3. Mmm, Orlando Bloom. Still can't believe the time my boss got in the lift with him at work and never passed on my number (yes John, I still haven't forgiven you!) Just kidding, he's probably too short for me anyway.
Thursday morning I caught the bus to Noosa just a 2 hour drive from Brisbane. I have the best naps on those buses.
Got to the hostel (Noosa backpackers) and for the first time had to complain about the room. It was in a shed and freezing cold. Got moved to a nicer block which is clean and has a proper roof! Met a chap called Martin in the hostel, we took a walk to the supermarket and he offered to cook dinner for me that evening - nice one! The old Essex charm never fails!
Went for a walk into the main town and had a look around. Kelly and Laura turned up around 5ish. Was nice to seem some familiar faces.
Thursday night was a nice chilled out evening. Martin cooked pasta carbonara which was yummy. All he asked for in return was a couple of beers and the washing up done - what a bargain!
On Friday Kelly, Laura and I went to Australia Zoo. It's the largest zoo in Oz and is run by the family of Steve Irwin. The zoo was great and really interactive. We fed the elephants, stroked koalas, watched a crocodile show and sat with kanagroos. I've finally got over my fear of kangaroos after sitting and feeding them. I still think they're a little bit shifty though!
Friday night was a smashing dinner of beans on toast because I couldn't be bothered to walk to the supermarket. Went to see Shrek 3 in the evening. It didn't disappoint - I love Shrek!
It was so cold in the night. I had 2 hoodies, leggings, jogging bottoms and socks on and was still cold. The hostel only provides sheets so I had to hire a blanket for tonight.
Anyway, I haven't done anything of any interest in Noosa. Today is my last day so I think I'm going to take a walk to the National park. The weather isn't good enough to go to the beach but I'm hoping it warms up in time for Monday when I'll be surfing on Rainbow beach (ha ha - will be looking like Free Willy in my wetsuit!)
Off out with Kelly and Laura tonight for a few beers to see what Noosa nightlife has to offer.
Will email more from Rainbow beach on Monday (or just watch the news for any reports of beached whales!!)
Hope you're all not working too hard!!
Loads of love and hugs, Julie xxx
