Hi all. Well here we are in Sydney Australia.
Flying here is just a strange experience. We got on the plane and we know that all we're going to do for 24 hours is sit in the same seat and it's a longway. But strangely, it is a short amount of time. It goes on for ever but then, when I think about people I know, going to bed, sleeping, waking up and doing things, and all when I'm sitting there shifting my weight from one butt cheek to another, I kinda think well, it's going quite fast.
We boarded at London Heathrow after a difficult 24 hours (our car was smashed into by an 80 year old woman just on our way to the airport - we weren't even in it!!!! - But I was at my sisters house and we were very lucky to have her extraordinary organisational skills standing by to help manage the situation) and we very much enjoyed our seats! Steve had been up all night a week ago to call Brisbane to buy our exit row seats. So it was we could stretch out with no-one in front of us. And let's face it, in an accident, prob best be by an exit seat!
I am forever amazed by the A380 double decker plane. It is behind me in this photo. 450 passengers. cattle class where we sit is downstairs. The wing span is wider than the length of the plane. That is a first. The plane has 4 wings. The back (smaller) wings are larger than a 737 plane that might fly to Europe. The main wings are just a phenomenal feat of engineering. The plane sits on the runway and then it turns and there is a slight vibration and then POW! You are airborne. I slept through the second take off! Me? I used to be scared of flying!
We arrived in Sydney 24 hours ago and explored our immediate surroudings and found an amazing fresh fruit and veg market and also a butcher. So it's all on our doorstep. The house is fabulous and well, it puts my organisation to shame! everything is so sorted!
It's been quite windy and cool today but still managed to burn my nose!
Right, best sign off. Take care all! AND HAPPY CHRISTMAS!
