So I finally made it here and didn't die of boredom in J'burg airport, although it was close! Especially when, after already waiting 7hours, they annouced my flight had been cancelled. No hassle though as we all just got booked on to the next flight 2 hours later. When we landed it took an age to get my visa etc so i finally got to my hostel at 9pm and was absolutely knackered after getting up at 4am.
The fun didn't end there though as due to my late arrival my room had already been taken by someone else - apparently because of the world cup Maputo is something of a hotspot right now and accomodation is in demand. The guy who runs the hostel was really apologetic though and sorted out a deal for me to go to the hotel across the road as he was fully booked. By the time I got into my room I just had enough energy to shower and then it was straight to bed.
Today I moved back into the backpackers and they gave me some info about Maputo - maps etc. I've pretty much just spent the day walking around and getting to know the town, even went to a couple of the museums they recommended. Its been really hot which has made me want to get to a beach - its strange to be able to see the sea but not go in it!
Tomorrow morning - another early start yay - i'm catching a shuttle bus to Tofo, a beach resort about 7hours drive away. I think a couple of other people from my hostel want to do the same thing so once they get back we can sort it out.

Christabel Williams I know how you feel.. waiting for a flight, only for it to be cancelled.. one day we will just have to invest in our own jet planes! But I am so happy that despite being exhausted, you are still enjoying Maputo, and that was nice of the hotel manager to find you a room, not a barn with a manger? What is the scenery like? Different to your hometown of S.A? I want to know what you get up to, my little exploring pickle! Love xxxxxxxxxxx
