Finally I arrive in Portstewart, later than anticipated due to traffic and an empty fuel tank, not to mention the dreaded text conversations with pretty much everyone I know. Why everyone has to text me then and hey why did I have to read or indeed answer them is beyond me!! Back to the story...As I arrived after the roads had closed I managed to work my way through the back streets and found a nice parking location outside a scout hut (thanks guys) so I abandoned the bike there and watched the Superbike practice while I awaited the opportunity to cross the track on foot. Michael Rutter and John McGuiness were on fire that night topping each others lap time every lap. I thought this could be worth a flutter on Saturday with Davey, who would think a Ducati could win on a road circuit.
Finally this practice came to an end, I crossed the track and made it to Davey and Trish's house, the best hosts in Northern Ireland. Amanda was waiting for me here, and was very comfortable having had a sleep and eaten dinner, all I could manage was a cup of coffee.
We went outside to watch the 250cc practice, which started, then suddenly stopped by red flags. Ambulances and medics raced away from the pits to the back of the circuit. No more practice was held that night, so I went back over the track and collected my bike, and then we went off to our B&B.
The B&B was immaculate, Hyacinth Bucket eat your heart out. I even had a garage for my bike.
