Hi Everyone
Hope everyone is good! Sorry haven´t updated for a bit but haven´t had the chance! Anyway I´ve been in Ecuador now for over 2 weeks and been working at CENIT for 2 weeks. I´m sure some of you will be glad to hear that i´ve found my way around the bus system now and haven´t got lost in a while. Also I am taking Spanish lessons 4 times a week so am picking up more Spanish and able to say key words to the kids like catch, throw, don´t do that, brush your teeth, etc, etc. The children are all very sweet and am enjoying working with them. Last week we taught them numbers (can´t remember if said this in previous journal) and this week we are teaching them colours and also we continue everyday making them brush their teeth and wash their hands. The little ones are hard to teach but it a good pre school education for them and the older ones can be a bit cheeky but you can do alot more with. Today we had someone filming us as CENIT are going to make a video of us all and use it to get sponsorship and help fundraise for the charity. Also the man who did the film might even make a documentary out of it. Tomorrow we are suppose to be taking a larger group of children (around 50) to the zoo but I think their has been a few problems with that (not sure why) so might just take them to the park.
Anyway other stuff besides working I have been up to is I went to the
philippino consorts for dinner where the philippino ambassdor was there. She was very nice but didn´t really talk to her much as their was so many people. Also last weekend I went out with Becky a girl who is friends of Becky I used to work with (Plaza) she had been in Quito for 6 months so it was good to go out with someone who knew their way around and all the locals! I also wondered around the Old Town for a bit but need to go back and have a proper look as some of the buildings are amazing! Last Sunday I went to Copitaxi moutain on a train and then took a truck and it was FREEZING! It was really beautiful up there though and I think it is one of the highest moutains in Ecuador.
Tonight I´m going out with Twyla the girl who was staying with Maritoni and then tomorrow afternoon (after work) I´m off to Banos (it means bath in spanish as the town has hot springs) for the weekend which is suppose to be beautiful. I´ll fill you in when I get back.
