Time in the bush is timeless - so today didn't feel like a Saturday....that said we were given a lie in until 5.30 am with breakfast at 6am and were away by 6.30am.
We started off hunting for leopard - and began where we left her last night - we didn't find her but found two sets of tracks so think she had joined up with a male and were off somewhere - but where? We also saw an old wild dog den shortly after which we spotted an old hyena den - both were in the woodlands but close enough to water to meet their needs.
We then headed off to the southern end of Busanga Plain and had coffee at the edge of a water course and watched the lives of the animals and birds there before wending our way back for brunch.
Throughout a very hot siesta- the hottest yet- I tried to catch up with my photos - so much so my computer went to 1% battery power so when we left for the afternoon drive we dropped it at the carnivore programme for charging . While there we looked at the amazing skull collection on the same site belonging to the Treetops Schools camp.
We then continued our hunt for the leopards whose tracks we had seen this morning - but they remained elusive.
During dinner we were serenaded by the mozambiquan nightjar ( first this year) and the fiery necked nightjar - there were also a few hippo grunts but no hyenas.
(Today's photo is of a not often seen white headed vulture.)
