Another leisurely start as we thought we were going to track Colobus monkeys at 1000am......but Charles arrived as we were finishing breakfast and said he had just spoken to the guide who was on his way to the forest near the lodge. We collected our gear and headed to the main gate where we joined 3 young girls and Daniel, our chimp guide, watching Black and White Colobus monkeys. As they were moving through the forest we had a short steep slippery descent followed by a, puff making, climb before getting to the other side of the forest and adopting a relatively static position watching a family group, several adults, one cute baby experimenting with climbing and leaping and some precocious teenagers. The latter bounced around us and came within inches of us - and I am not sure who was watching who - even Daniel took pictures as he hadn't seen that behaviour before! The baby was over 3 months old as it was no longer white but probably 6 months old as he was black and white.
The troop were quite quiet grooming and eating but because it was sunny and hot they stayed in the shade as they didn't want to be in the full sun with their black coats.
After our hour we walked back to the lodge - I swam again for an hour then finally got to grips with my photo editing before heading off for another indulgence - a hot stone massage!
