We left the lovely forest lodge at 8.30 and headed to our overnight stop in Kibuye on the shores of Lake Kivu.
As we left the tea pickers were in the plantation around the lodge working hard. (today's picture)
As we headed west then north we passed padi fields in the valley bottoms and well cultivated hillsides and watched the daily toil of many Rwandans getting water, shopping, selling, going to or returning from their fields or just sitting and chatting.
We arrived at Moriah Hills Resort in time for lunch, as we arrived before our room was ready lunch was a good idea especially as it took nearly two hours to arrive......which was irritating especially as we ordered earlier than others! Anyway it was a nice view over the lake
And could have been worse!
After lunch we took the steep climb up to our room which had a balcony over looking the lake. I was contemplating sitting outside when the wind got up and a thunderstorm cracked overhead and torrential rain came so I watched from the room instead.
As the sun set there was an amazing sight of fishermen on the lake chanting as they rowed. Their boats were African trimarans - 3 hollowed out canoes connected together - you could see the men walking between them as they fished ( see tomorrow's photo).
Dinner I am pleased to say was a much faster affair but the hotel will forever be my African Fawlty Towers - people running round trying to do their best but not quite making it!
