I've really been enjoying Berlin. I think it might be the most culture centered city I've ever been to. The city has somewhat of a college town vibe and consists of soo many artists(which also equates to a 17% unemployement rate). It's really a suprisingly cheap city too. One of my hostel mates is trying to get an apartment here for a month or so and said that the cheaper ones run around 250 euro a month. Soo cheap.
Yesterday I did another free walking tour. These tours are definitely the way to go. We saw several memorials and learned a lot of the history and local opinions towards them. A lot of the tour focused on Hitler and Nazism and it was really neat to not just hear about it, but stand in the exact spot it happened. At one point, I stood about 15 feet above where Hitler committed suicide(above his bunker now is a parking lot) and it was absolutely surreal. I went for a long walk last night(kept getting lost, seriously, got lost for like 2 hrs) over to the East Side galleries. It's basically an area of the Berlin Wall that they left standing and asked artists to graffit and paint it. Took a couple photos(wanted more but my camera was dead). Anyways it goes on for probably half a mile and has some really unique/amazing art.
Today the weather was pretty nasty so it turned into Museum day. Believe it or not but Berlin has one of the best ancient Greek/Islam museums in the world. We walked around there for a good 3-4 hours and got to see some amazing 2000 year old statues. Gotta love the Greeks. We're going out here soon to get some dinner then feelin like a bar crawl later on tonight. Later, J
