Visited the Dunera Museum yesterday the reason we stopped in Hay as first came the Dunera Boys over 2500 Jewish Internees brought to Hay from Europe in 1940 the reason for the name was the ship that brought them to Australia was called the Dunera, they were followed by 2000 Italian and Japanese internees. Joshua was part of a group when studying for his Barmitza and the grandson on one of the Dunera boys was part of, Peter meet his father and mother. Today we visited the Shear Outback Hall of fame we watched a sheep being shorn in the region their used to be 2 million sheep in the Hay region now because of the drought their are only 600,000 and farmers have to grow other crops which need less water. the shearers get 2.68 for 1 sheep shorn, and the record per day for shearing sheep is 342 which was in 1980 approx and the previous record was 330 using hand shears in1890.
