Dinners: chicken kebab, falafel, lamb pottery, rice and stews (chicken and beef), local wine - turisan (red was better than white; TYL 6 for a good size glass)
Fun stuff:
Hot air ballooning experience over the valley, at times very close to the valley, is unforgettable.
Scooting along goreme and surrounds and going through the underground city (kaymakli) was very cool. Kaymakli was 8 storeys deep although only 4 were open. Kev and I decided not to hire a guide after speaking to a couple who also explored Kaymakli without a guide. It was great to be able to explore the well signed ex-city in our own time. We did learn various stuff anyway from the guides that passed us as they rushed through the rooms.
Stopped at a petrol station to pee, the petrol attendants kindly invited us in for a bit of chat and tea afterwards.
Cycling (mountain biking) was a great way to explore the area in our own time. Kev and I had lunch at a quiet spot shaded by one of the fairy chimneys. We would have gone and lunched inside one of the caves had they not been filled with rubbish inside. the terrain was hilly so a bit challenging. Would have been more fun if I could mountain bike the valleys but unfortunately, my mountain biking skills aren't that great.
Cycling up a steep hill paved with cobblestones, I slipped and cut myself... Grumpily walked 5m to the top and showed kev my bleeding leg (ok... the bleeding wasn't that bad really), a couple of guys in a car stopped and offered me tissue to wipe my leg).
