Waking up at a reasonable time we went for breakfast and walked to a motorbike shop to hire some bikes (don't worry parents we were safe and wore helmets!)
Turns out the cambodians don't believe in signposts. 3 and a half hours later we had still not found the killing fields (10minutes from our hostel!) one road sign said straight on to the killing fields but if you went straight on and looked behind you, it also said straight on to the killing fields in the reverse direction! Eventually we paid a man on the outskirts of probably Tibet to guide us there.
Nic started to feel a bit queezy but after a quick break in the shade we were able to walk round the centre which proved to be quite a disturbing experience. We then waited outside the movie room for forty minutes waiting for the next showing of the documentary only to eventually look at the showing times to discover the last showing was three hours ago - probably when we were near Tibet!
The motorbike journey back was easier but the sun made it quite hard because of the heat. HOW IS IT WET SEASON IT HAS RAINED ABOUT TWICE?!?! 100m from the hostel Chris and Miranda (famous for their lack of direction) decided to go on a small detour to the other side of the city thinking they were following Josh and Nic. Turns out it was Cambodian woman in the same coloured tshirt...f***. With no map, no mobile phone, no money or sense of direction they decided to pool their resources and ask for directions. They then realised they didn't know the street name and Chris didn't even know the hotel name (thank god Miranda did - she made us write this). While Josh was out looking for the others nic, rather than follow his instructions of walk down the road 100m to the hotel, Nic decided to jump on the back of a locals bike and get a lift. Wetter.
Eventually we all made it back with minor heat exhaustion. Chris and Josh returned the bikes with a stop off at central Market and bought noodles and ice cream to cook in the hotel for the others. They re-entered the room to find Nic and Miranda naked and groaning on the bed. Dont worry parents they were just burnt and coated in aftersun.
Josh and chris thought the huge pictures of chillis all over the noodle packs were oriental decoration. Apparently they are indicative of spice content and it's safe to say dinner was practically inedible. Thank god for the ice cream.
That evening we had a few pre drinks in our room before heading to a bar and having an awesome night.
Little did we know what would await us in the morning...
Much love
