Woke up to a lovely morning in Paris, ate my complimentary breakfast next to the river and then headed off on my way!
I saw so many things today and did way too much walking lol! First off I caught the metro to Notre Dame to see the cathedral, was really nice but as the line to get in was massive and i've been before I decided to not bother queing up. After that I went for a walk along the river, stopping at the bridge with all the padlocks (Can't remember the name of it now -_-). It's so amazing how many padlocks there actually are!
I finally arrived at my next stop, Musee D'Orsay. Now this place was massive! 2 main levels, two corridoors on either side with anterooms off them and also a central open area, all filled with paintings and scultptures! Got to see my first Van Gogh paintings in person, including his self portrait =) I wandered around (methodically of course) until I had seen everything, maybe 2 hours later...
I was pretty hungry after all that walking so I walked some more till I found a mini supermarket and got myself some bread rolls and meat. Turned out the meat was bacon though lol... Oh well, next I decided to head to Hotel Des Invalides cause it looked like a nice place to go, turned out to be the Army museum!! Of course I had to go so another 2 hours of walking around looking at heaps of suits of armour (they must have had upwards of 100 full suits) and modrn military things =) Much better than some silly art museum =P
Next I walked through some nice gardens and across a very impressive bridge to get to the Grand & Petite Palais, I didnt go inside but they were very cool buildings =) From here it was just a short walk to the Obelisque in the middle of Concord square which was cool, great views from there directly down the Champs Elysees to the Arc Du Triomphe and to the Louvre in the other direction!
Being so super tired and it being pretty much dinner time I took the metro all the way back to the hostel which brings me to right now! Nothing planned for tonight, going to the Louvre tomorrow with my parents though which should be fun!
