So far i'm having a great time in Perth, although jet lag apparently wanted to experience Oz with me!
I woke up at 3am last night and 4am the night before, ready to start the day, but hopefully i'll come right soon! It is still so crazy to think it's this hot in DECEMBER! I have seen some Christmas decorations with Santa clutching onto a surfboard in shorts! When i left chilly England it was -5, so arriving in perth and finding out it was 29 degrees was certainly disorienting and needs some getting used to, because it's only going to get hotter!
Today we went to Hillarys Boat Harbour and it was lovely! the weather was great as per usual, apart from the slight windyness. But while most aussie's were freezing and putting on their cardies I was hunky dory, because if it's one thing us Brits can handle it's a slight chill! :)
I spotted a sign post at the Harbour that had signs to all famous cities and the distance they were from Perth. London is 15680 Km away a little out of walking distance i think! It definitely made me realise that i am basically on the other side of the world!
The harbour had cute little shops to boot including, to my surprise, many British sweet shops! To be honest i didn't think we had enough sweets to make a whole shop dedicated to it, but was pleasantly surprised to see a packet of Hula Hoops on the shelf! Never the less it's nice to know that fellow 'poms' are also here in Perth frying under the sun.
After we had a browse at the shops and some of the boats, such as Bew t ful gurls (how creative!), we got some Fish and chips and sat on a picnic bench next to the water and this giant Dolphin statue.
The wind had picked up a bit, so let's just say that my hair got more of the fish and chips than my mouth did! We also ended up paying the 2 dollars to make the Dolphin Statue work. Here's me thinking music was going to play, water spraying out, maybe even a couple of the dolphins having a chat. But in reality the dolphins just spun around and round and round and we ended up getting an audience of tourists with cameras trying to capture this magical moment that we paid for! We should of set up a stand and charged them!
After the trip to the beautiful Harbour we headed back home and ended the day with a soft serve ice cream! Today was a great day and my experience of Western Australia is still going fantastically well and i have to say Australian people are, in my opinion, the nicest out there!!
