The day finally arrived and we were on our way to Cayo Coco to meet my parents. We went by bus then a taxi which took over 12 hours in total. This place better be worth it...well it was. My parents waited up till 12pm to greet me at reception.
I know my mother would have been struggling to stay awake. I felt like a celebrity as everyone knew who I was and everything that I had done or doing. I had to say hello to half the hotel and mum and dad had got two of the staff wanting to marry me before they met me.
The room is spectacular and on the first morning I had a decote and washed my hair and trimmed my stubble with my new shaver my parents bought me. So nice to have a double bed to myself with working aircon, TV, own private bathroom with a decent mirror and light. And the shower was just like the one back at home. Also had a mini fridge with a variety of drinks in which were restocked every day, perfecto! The best part of it is when you come back after a nice day at the beach and your room is squeaky clean again.
Food however, is very average, especially in the buffet restaurant where we eat for breakfast and lunch. Good job the resort had over 8 restaurants and 5 or more bars. Meaning we had to book into the A'la Cart restaurants to enjoy 5* eating, well Cuban 5*.
The beach is really stunning with white sand, blue warm sea with little waves. Most importantly, quite too, no screaming kids. There was however, weddings held on the beach most days but that was okay, barely heard them. My dad would wake up at 7am to reserve all four of our beds every morning. He's on par with the Germans reserving sunbeds. My dad went from brown to black, I thought I could try and catch up but he was fresh off the boat black. The resort was filled with mainly Canadians or French Canadians as the Caribbean is our Europe. We met some nice people here, mainly British but we did meet some crazy Italians but they lived in Canada.
My birthday was great and I couldn't of asked for a better day. Although, when I woke up in the mroning it was raining, but that was all cleared up by the time we had breakfast. We returned back to the rooms so that I could open all my stuff, literally like Christmas again. I got the new GoPro5 Black Edition, shaver, money, clothes and chocolates. I
even got 2 bottles of rum from the hotel and a birthday cake. We went to the Chinese restaurant for my birthday. The chef cooked our food in front of us. We were bloated by the end. The night before, me and Kyle stayed up on the balcony with some tunes, cigar, rum, to see my birthday in, too bad there wasn't any hotties around we could of invited over. I'm afraid it was full of older people.
I do wish to say, thank you to everyone who sent me a card, money, present and your Facebook messages. However, I must give a massive thank you to my parents for just being my usual parents and spoiling me. I was not expecting half the things they bought me, but it was everything I needed. Had a great few days with them, non stop laughs, even if it was like taking you both out for the week. Sad to goodbye again but I shall be home soon. Love you both! X
Surprisingly wifi isn't free at the hotel because were in Cuba and so I had to wait until I got to Cancun to use wifi and reply to all my messages. When we was at the hostel is Havana, a guy paid to have all his laundry done by a local which cost him $8. We all thought that was expensive. Nothing in conparison to how much the resort wanted to charge. They were charging $8 for 1 item. So my mum washed all our stuff in the bath and left it in soak, then hung out when we were down the beach. Hung it under our wooden beach hut we had everyday. Thanks mother! She did complain about how dirty all my clothes were and how they smelt so bad. So much so, she didn't allow me to have my new white Lacoste boxers they bought me for my birthday.
The night after my birthday, me and Kyle stayed up till 5:30am with some locals and the Canadian/ Italian guy. Chatting, drinking and learning how to salsa. Good night but paying for it the next day.
Our last night in the resort, my parents had already gone home. However, we went to the Chinese restaurant again and sat in between these two older French Candian couples. One of the couples was telling us that when they flew out here from Toronto. A drunk mad man was causing havoc on the plane and was shouting out he had an explosive on him. They had to fly back to Toronto to arrest the guy then they flew back out to Cuba a few hours later.
Getting the bus back to Havana and waited at hotel, this guy and girl came up to me and tried selling me his girlfriend?
