10 hour bus ride to Siem Reap, so funny when i used to moan about getting a bus to town which took 45 minutes! Arrived in Siem Reap at 7am and check in at the hostel wasn't till 2pm. So we patiently waited in the hostel movie room and watched three films. Be reassured, I don't have bed bugs, it was sand flies that basically eaten me alive whilst sunbathing!
Did the Angkor Wat day tour and seen Angkor Thom, Bayon, Ta Prohm, Bakheng hill for sunset. Ta Prohm is the famous one that was in the Tomb Raider film with Angelina Jolie! After that I'm pretty templed out. At one of our rest stops i was approached by a tuk tuk driver who was a preaching jehovah's witness, telling me all the buls*** and to look at this website, yeah course mate, I've got loads of time to read your s***! Haha.
My friend that i met in India was in the same hostel as me, nice to catch up after nearly 15 weeks since India.
Managed to find a really good gym with decent equipment for just 1 dollar entry, bargain!
Siem Reap itself is an okay city, a bit dirty, but worst of all the tuk tuk drivers drive me nuts..."tuk tuk", NO! Do one!! Cutting our time in South Asia by 1 month as we don't have enough time on our visas. So we have booked our flight from Bali to Melbourne on the 6th May. I don't mind leaving a bit early, it will mean i can start earning again to fund my next trip...South America!
Crossing into Thailand via Cambodia was much smooth than Vietnam to Cambodia. Now have to get used to the currency and language again, shouldn't take too long to remember it all again! When crossing the boarder, we were swarmed by begging kids, they must have been no older than 4 years old. Cambodia is so much poorer than i first realised. Thailand however is much more developed than all the other counties I've been too. They're roads have smooth tarmac (bliss). There's hardly any scooters, mainly cars which are either Honda, Toyota or Nissan...no others cars are here!
