So welcome to my blog on my trip to Koh Pra Thong in Southern Thailand. I’ll try to update you on a regular basis so you can see what’s going on whilst I am away…
I’ll start this as a day-by-day account but that may well change over time. Bear with me!
Firstly to give everyone a point of reference, Koh Pra Thong is the second largest island on Thailand’s west coast – after Phuket. About a 3 hour drive north of Phuket is the town of Kuraburi – the staging post for our trips to the island. Due to the undersea topography in this area, Koh Pra Thong was one of the most devastated locations in the 2004 tsunami, and even 6 years on, there’s plenty to be done to restore the community here to its former days. This trip is the first of the STA Travel trips to visit the community development projects that are taking place on Koh Pra Thong and the mainland around the area – and more specifically to visit the project which we are supporting with all our fundraising efforts and the Planeterra tie up over the course of the next 5 years.
