World Cruise
Tuesday was embarcation day. Turn in rental car at the airport. Taxi back to hotel, then shuttle to the ship, followed by long wait to board. Finally made it to cabin, very nice, to await arrival of large volumes of luggage to be stowed away in relatively small spaces. Two botttles of champagne awaited us with various invitations to cocktail parties. The QE2 and Queen Mary were moored nose to nose and should have sailed out together, but Mary was delayed so we left first. The two Queens will meet up again in Sydney Harbour.Dinner was superb, as always on here, then a great show by pianist Antonio Salci and the QE2 orchestra. Today was a day at sea. We attended a Bridge lecture, then a fascinating talk by Terry Waite. You remember he is the hostage negotiator who was himself imprisoned for five years in Beiruit? This followed by a talk on building of the Titanic, and then BBC broadcaster Sue Krisman gave a talk on Musicals. After dinner a show by comedian Norm Crosby. All in all, a busy day.We were due to land at Georgetown, Cayman Islands, but there is no big harbour so we would have to tender ashore but, alas, the weather was a bit to rough to load everyone into small boats, so we sailed on.Also, we were due in Puerto Moin, Costa Rica on Sunday but for some reason we got diverted to Cartagena, Columbia.
