Road Trip - Hue to Hoi An
Our buddies Hung and Row were waiting eagerly for us outside out hostel at 8am ready for our road trip. We were both a bit apprehensive about our backpacks being strapped to the back of the motorbikes. But, it looked safe enough, they even wrapped them up in a rain cover, just incase.
Our first stop was at a fishing village just outside Hue. We took a nice walk around, watching all the fishermen hard at work. Our next stop was at a place called "Elephant Springs" where we got the chance to swim in a fresh water lagoon, it was beautiful. It was slightly like a waterfall, with higher tiered lagoons. Jonny, Hung and Row took their turns of jumping off the large rocks on the side of the lagoon, while Shay played photographer. It was a nice pit stop to cool down from the scorching heat at 10am lol.
We were then on our way to Hoi An, just driving along the Highway was amazing. The scenery was unbelievable. Every so often we would stop to get some pictures. We then stopped at the highest point of Highway One. There were a lot of bombshelters here, you could see why as it was a great viewpoint of the coast. You were overlooking the nearby beach and all the ships. Again, some amazing pictures.
Hung and Row decided to take us to a local restaurant for some lunch. We were given a feast, vegetables, chicken, pork, rice, omelets. Basically, as much as you could eat and it cost us £1 haha. We were then on our way again, stopping at China beach in Danang. WOW, it was amazing. The stretch of beach went on for miles, it was so quiet. The sand was clean and the water was crystal clear. Shay is now really excited to see Nha Trang and the other beach areas around there.
Our last stop before reaching Hoi An was Marble Mountain. We opted for the lift to the top, we blame the heat, nothing to do with being lazy haha. At the top of the mountain there was temples, pagodas and caves. We then climbed up the marble rocks to the highest point and got some great views of Danang City.
By the time we reached Hoi An we were knackard. It was such a good day of sightseeing and riding on the motorbikes was a really good experience. But, as nice as Hung and Row were and they didn't make us feel like they were trying to rip us off at any point......we ended up in their "friends" tailor. Shay almost bought a dress but then decided against it, just incase.
We said our goodbyes to Hung and Row and thanked them for a really great day and then went back to our hotel which has a pool and is cheap for a nice refreshing swim.
Lets see what Hoi An has in store for us.....
