My time in cairns is definitely going to quickly, it's already my third day nearly gone!
So yesterday I spent the day looking around the town of cairns and the lagoon area. As cairns doesn't have a beach as such, they have built a pool and general chill out area, it's a very nice spot to sit, swim or sunbathe, could easily spent a day in the area!
As for the town itself, it's different to what I expected. I was expecting it to be like Perth, built up but it isn't at all like that. There are no highrises however it is very touristy, majority of the shops are either pubs/ restaurants or gift/ souvenir shops, despite that there is a good vibe to it and I think I'd prefer to live here rather than Perth.
The last 2 night i have spent in a bar called the woodshed, they do free food for hostels as long as you buy a drink! All good especially as the cheapest drink is 2.50 so am getting food and a drink for 2.50 very good in aus! Have spent both night with Dutch and German people who are all very friendly! Always the first to get a round in, may of had quite a bit to drink last night especially considering the plans for today!
So today is Bungy jump day, something I had planned to do since first deciding to go travelling however the idea is something vastly different to the real thing!
I was picked up from my hostel at 9am for a 11 jump, I was surprisingly calm! I had resolved that I was going to jump whether I wanted to or not! Couldn't waste the money!
I decided I wanted to watch a few jumps before going up, this helped settle nerves! Before i knew it I was being strapped in and ready to jump. The ' jump master' advised its just like jumping into a pool but only there isn't a pool! In the end I was standing on the edge, he counted down and i didn't even think about it he got to 1 and i jumped! I only realised what I was doing as I left the platform and was falling! Definitely an amazing experience ill not forget in a hurry! So into pizza night at the hostel, think I've deserved it!
