Day 11
First stop on our way to Knysna was the Ostrich safari. We joined the 10 o'clock tour which consisted of a tour of the incubation chamber , then a tractor tour of the farm followed by feeding the ostriches. They also gave you the opportunity to sit on one, if you were under 75 kg (which of course ruled me out), Fi did have a go though :-)
Arrived in Knysna around lunchtime and headed to the East Heads cafe which was recommend by the Rough Guide. The cafe had an excellent view of the sea and has some excellent seafood on the menu! Of course being English we had to have the fish and chips! They also had a local craft ale Red Bridge Golden ale, cheers !
The Leisure Isle Lodge is a small hotel located on an small island around 5km outside of Knysna. Attached to the hotel is Daniella's restaurant , in fact it's the only restaurant on the island! We started the evening off with a couple of local inverroche gin and tonics! We skipped starters and went straight for the mains as we really have eaten a lot out here, I had the Kudu steak, first time for me and it was lovely! We also had a very nice bottle of 2008 shiraz called the goose from a local vineyard owned by Retief Goosen, expensive by South African standards but a lovely drop all the same. [edit from Fi - just to be clear I skipped the starter so I had space for a pud :-)]
