Day 8
Today was a day of rest, we have been on the go for a week so we thought we would take it easy. After a leisurely breakfast we headed into town to visit the Huguenot Monument which is at the opposite end of town from where we are staying. The Huguenot Monument in Franschhoek, South Africa, is dedicated to the cultural influences that Huguenots have brought to the Cape Colony (and ultimately the whole of South Africa) after their immigration during the 17th and 18th centuries.
Walking back into town we stopped off at various boutique shops before returning to the hotel. The afternoon was spent chilling before we needed to head out for dinner at the Tasting Room.
Now, I booked this restaurant 30 days in advance as it is notoriously difficult to get a table, this is not really surprising as according to The Times this is the 88th best restaurant in the world! It's really difficult to explain how fantastic the whole experience was, I'm afraid you will just have to rely on the pictures. The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable, the menu was 8 courses in total with matched wines, and boy they were generous with the wine!! Each course was explained to us in detail as were the wines, this really was the best food I have ever eaten!
