We have had a pleasant few days here and have enjoyed the sunshine and warmth.
The campsite is quite interesting as it seems like a transit camp for the Dutch. Each afternoon, from about 2pm onwards they begin to arrive. Yesterday afternoon, after our morning trip to the wine seller in Bollene, we sat outside our van relaxing and drinking tea as up to ten different sets of, mainly, Dutch caravans, came through the gates. Unusually three ended up in our little corner - unusual in that normally we have only one or two.
Anyway the duly settled and out came the tables and chairs. Then the beer. Not French but Dutch beer, brought all of the way from home. Its a rumour but I have heard it said that the Dutch like going away but take lots of food and drink with them rather than enjoy the local food and drink.
Later, just to disprove my xenophobic ideas they did partake of local food: four people ate four pizzas! Real French cuisine at its best!
As we awoke this morning at 7.30 am for tea on the front 'terrace' of our van the Dutch were almost ready to depart, mostly heading south to the sea. We simply sat and watched, and then rushed to hide out possessions as a quick thunder storm rolled overhead. Fortunately it did not last long but the day ended up rather cloudy and a bit humid. However we are promised better weather tomorrow and for the weekend.
We are now going to move a short distance further south into the Luberon. We have found a campsight near Aix-en Provence under Mont Victoire so we hope to say there at least until Monday and maybe longer, depending on what we find, the weather and so on. Its only about 70/80 miles or so but we shall potter and wander through the Var countryside and maybe, just maybe, buy an odd bottle of wine en route!
