Finally we left Wellington YAY after a week living with Ben from Bournemouth, Jason from New York and quite scary Lorraine from HELL she was the moody type and liked to yell at here boyfriend alot nevermind....
So we headed of in Milly first stop was New Plymouth where Mount Monganoi was and we stayed in the tiniest hostel ever it was just me Heather an 1 guy from Japan it was soooo small but we walked round the base of the mount and found a strange tunnel and climbed inside a castle COOL MAN! We then drove upwards to Lake Taupo which was a massive drive but we had lots of fat cakes and coffee stops well we kinda of had to as Milly the car was slowly dying from all the travelling....Lake Taupo was awseome beautiful and full of fun things to do. We met loads of people and everyone was doing a Sky Dive which i was up for but just ended up watching everyone else float from the sky with a nice cuppa Heather loved it and was very brave I couldn't have done it but I did go white water rafting which was brill lots of rapids and big trees and water ha ha. Next we went onto Routurua and rested ourselves in the smelly hot pools which reached 42 degrees and overlooked another big lake very relaxing and I decided to go for it and do Zorbing with Yvonne this irish girl we met. Basically I got in a big round ball at the top of the hill and said I didn't like it and wanted to get out but then Yvonne got in 2 and there was lots of hot water and I felt ok and he banged the ball and we started rolling down a massive hill it made me stomach turn to start but then couldn't stop laughing its the funniest thing i have done ever!!! Could have gone again.... had to recover by going to more hot pools. In the evening we went to a Maori show where they did half naked haki dance shows and talked about the Moari history and we ate loads of Moari food heated from the ground and then found lots of glo worm in the dark. We then drove up to the Corrumendal which is a beautiful part of NZ with stunning beaches down at Cathedral Cove and we got quite off the beaten track and stayed at this really quiet hostel which was really relaxing and we also got in some sunbathing as the wheather was much hotter there. By this point I was really starting to think about getting work as we had been travelling for a while and I had not been working for nearly 6 weeks so we decided to head pass Auckland up to the Bay if Islands for the start of the seaon. We got to Paihia and found work straight away in the hostel cleaning which was hilarious as I hate cleaning and am not good at it and had to clean shower drains with this northern girl Kirsty and we just ended up laughing the whole time.... anyway no other work came up so I made the executive desicion to head to the civilisation of Melbourne and find office work once again BOO HOO....
Was very sad to say goodbye to Heather although we are meeting up again in Melbourne but we did manage to do one last trip to Russell in the Bay of Islands which was again stunning and I also persuaded someone to buy the broke Milly which was quite unbelievable. So I flew from Auckland this morning really earlier and am now in the cool city of Melbourne, its literally still quite cold here but heading into Summer where temps get quite high. Am meeting up with Yvonne and another friend Helen here soon and madly job hunting and hopefully gonne move into a city apartment if all goes well fingers crossed. Am living off noodles and tinned tuna its got to that stage, but can't complain the memories and adventures of New Zealand were well worth it! Till the next time adios lots of love Jo xx
