I woke up early at 8am, saw Greg as he was leaving then grabbed a shower. I was checked out by about 9am and found Kyler. Since we were early we went to meet Jonny for breakfast in a cafe down the road, he'd arrived early that morning.
We ordered food then rushed to finish it to meet people at 10am at the hostel, but just as we were leaving Andrew walked into the cafe. Since he was the only person coming we took it easy and Kyler took his bag back.
We left Jonny and wandered over to see Mao. When we were almost there I realised I'd forgotten my ID and so had Andrew. Since it was late and we were so close we went with Kyler so he could just walk through, but when we arrived it was closed anyway! It was only 10:30am so we weren't sure why, but I'm glad we didn't go all the way back for my passport!
Back at the hostel we caught up with everyone, helped Jess to check out and then hung out in the cafe. I sorted out some things on the internet then went to the Olympic park when everyone went to the Temple of Heaven. It was a long way and I didn't have enough money to get into the stadium but I had a good wander around the outside. It was so strange to be there because I had seen the Bird's Nest so much on TV when I was still in England waiting to come.
I got back to town about 4pm and gave Jonny a call because I wasn't meeting anyone until 6pm. We had a coffee then went to look for a present for the girl Jonny was meeting but eventually we gave up and went back to the hostel.
We met up with everyone and went back to our favourite Muslim restaurant for the last time. We had a very good meal with lots of veggie dishes since I was backed up by Nate.
After filling up with bread we went back to the hostel, me and Jess grabbed our bags and we said some sad goodbyes to new friends.
We took a taxi to the station and got our train with no problems. It was a very fancy train and we had a chat with three American girls, a Chinese couple in our section and some kids who kept running to us and asking questions and we had to pose for a few photos.
Once things calmed down we had a well needed early night and slept right through until we were woken by an attendant.
