Hi this is Saturday and I'm actually in Brisbane but the previous place Lennox Head didn't have internet connection so unable to do a blog entry. Not that much to report about Coffs Harbour or Lennox Head both lovely places but not alot going on at either place. I've been doing lots of walking trying to get fit for Borneo - I'll need legs of steel for the climb of Mount Kinabalu at 14,000 feet - not sure how high that is but it takes two full days to do it so guess it's a bit higher than Rivington Pike.
Whilst I was at Lennox Head I caught the bus to Byron Bay - very busy but had a really good buzz about it - decided to walk up to Lighthouse (in the above picture) took me about an hour all up hill - exhausted when I got there but there was a cafe so I could at least get a drink. Just as I got there it started to rain, then it started to lash down. No other way down other than the way up - walking - I got absolutely soaked wet through - not only to my skin but to my bones too. I've never been so wet - had to go in the nearest shop and buy a sarong and t-shirt didn't think the bus driver would let me on the bus looking like a drowned rat.
Oh almost forgot to mention that the YHA at Lennox was very alternative - lots of strange people trying to find themselves and I think there was some alternative substances being used too. Unfortunately no-one asked me to join in - JOKE Paul.
Got the bus yesterday from Lennox Head to Byron Bay then another bus to Brisbane actual travel time four hours - sat next to a lady on the Brisbane bus who told me her life story so that passed the time nicely just wished she'd lived a little more interesting life.
Will report back about Brisbane later - not seen much of it yet but the YHA here is the nicest I've stayed in - staying until Monday because I've got issues with my credit card and there's a HSBC branch here. Going to the museums and art galleries this afternoon and tomorrow I'm going to Australia Zoo - the one that Steve Irwin made famous. It's quite a long way from here so back to the train station tomorrow for 7.50 a.m. - they seem to do everything here really early in the morning and then they get to bed around 10.
