Wednesday - 8 mile walk around the coast looking for a big banana, quite literally a banana that tourists flock too. Unfortunately the banana was not big enough for us to see and so we aimlessly strolled along deserted beaches, catching some rays and whale/dolphin watching.
Thursday - Embarked on another 6-8 mile walk to the botanical gardens and Coffs harbour town. It was market day and so we bargained for a good deal on pasta, fruit and cakes. We also ate the best chicken club sandwich and chips other than that of patisserie Valerie. We hopped on the bus and arrived in Byron Bay at 9 in the evening. We arrived in rain, the first rain we have seen. That evening we heard rumours that Mumford and sons would be playing in Byron on Friday, today. We spent our evening planning how to listen without paying...
Friday - Best surf ever, under a clear blue sky. We were driven in a rickety van to a beach by some crazy, typical Aussies who used phrases such as, G'day mate, bonza, any pommies here and ride dingos! We both caught the waves and stood up on numerous occasions. Natasha was taken out as far as the dolphins by the instructor and told to take a deep breaths as she crashed though, and successfully rode, a huge wave. This evening we are intending to see if our planning from thursday night, to see Mumford for free, is successful.
Ps. Natasha says, "I knew it would be George."

Dad and Mum Yo surf dudes. Surfing with Dolphins sounds an experience. Next year, Newquay! Well done, Maria on the action as well. Ski skills in evidence.
Vivien "No worries!" - was my favourite Aussie phrase and I still catch myself saying it. Oh, and don't get concerned if anyone suggests you wear thongs - it's just flip-flops. Your trip sounds amazing. Keep it up!
Haider Why do you get to see mumford repeatedly and im yet to see them :( ?! also if that is one of you guys in the picture, then impressive!!
Grandma & Grandad When you get to Brisbane we can recommend the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, where we fed the kangaroos and had our picture taken holding a koala. We went by boat up the river so not sure how far it was. Very much enjoying the blog!
Veronica Great experiences girls. Surfing and dolphins, wow, wow!. Keep blogging and really enjoying catching up.
