The trip to Thousand Trails outside Bend went as expected. It was not a smooth, uneventful trip. It was a beautiful day, sunny, warm and not a lot of a traffic. The first sign of trouble came when we were about 15 miles outside of Warm Springs. Dennis and Bonnie were following us and they started to have some truck issues. Fuel was pouring out of a fuel filter he had just replaced. Our windshield decided to make a long crack out of a short one. Hopefully we get these little pains in the a** fixed and the rest of our trip goes smoothly. We were going to stop at the new casino in warm springs to stretch our legs and grab something to eat anyway so it worked out well that the casino was at the bottom of a canyon created by the Dechutes river right were we neede it to be. While there, Dennis tried to fix his fuel leak but didn't have the proper tool or a replacement part that could fix the problem. Thinking he had a temporary fix, we took off and headed south on highway 97 towards Bend. About 25 miles outside of Madras, OR, he started to have more problems, having to drive 35-45 mph, and this on a busy one lane highway. He finally had to stop in Madras and could go no further. While this was happening, Judy was on the phone, trying to find a parts store or repair place that was open at 5 on a Sunday. We kept going down the road since our best chance was Redmond or Bend as they were bigger cities. We found a parts store in Redmond, which was 45 miles down the road from Madras, that claimed they had the part Dennis needed. We had him call the parts store to make sure it was the correct part, then I pulled the motor home over, unhooked the car so Judy could go get the part and deliver it to Dennis, and I headed to the RV park. Judy drove back to Madras, gave Dennis the part, (which didn't work) and then had to drive 90 miles to catch up with me. Luckily for Dennis, when he stopped, he took our advice and pulled into a GMC dealer lot, so when the part didn't work, he only had to stay in his 5th wheel trailer and wait for the dealership to open in the morning. Judy finally made it to the thousand trails park, I made her dinner, we had a few glasses of wine, and called it a day.
