I've finally arrived in Japan, and now waiting to board my next flight to Hong Kong. The 12 hour flight to get here was pretty uneventful. I did feel really bad for this little old Japanese lady that boarded the flight in Toronto really late. After chatting with her I found out that she was from Belleville, and that her VIA train this morning was late getting into Toronto. That meant that when she finally arrived at Pearson, she was so late that Air Canada wouldn't accept her checked luggage so she had to leave it behind. All she had with her was a small carry on. Can you imagine flying half way around the world with no clothes. She told me that she would now have to buy everything once she arrived in Japan. You're probably wondering what she did with her luggage. Well it turns out she put it in storage and used my phone to call a relative to go pick it up. Poor lady...
Well here in Narita it's cloudy, hot and humid. Looks like I'll be waiting a bit longer as they just announced a delay due to mechanical issues. So here I wait... :(
Update...It's been 2 hours now, and I'm still waiting here in Japan. Haven't learned too much about the technical issues with the plane, but they did feed us. Ok...weird...I just got an alert on my iPhone stating that my flight will leave tomorrow at 9am. That's not a good sign...haven't heard anything offical yet from the airline. How bad is that to get info from a flight info service before getting it offically from the airline.?!?!? Stay tuned for more...
OK...it's official...I'm in an airport hotel by Narita Airport. The plane was grounded due to mechanical issues. I did manage to speak to one of the pilots, and he mentioned that a replacement part needed to be flowen in from Haneda, which really isn't that far away. Anhow, the part was due to arrive at 9pm, then it would take 6 hours to install in. Translation...flight is delayed until the next morning. United put us all up in hotels, and tomorrow we try again...
