Well it's been forever and a day since I last posted. Sorry about that. Since the last post I've already travelled to Kuala Lumpur and Phuket, and am now back in KL in transit to Taiwan.
What's happened since the last post...hmmm...well Tsun did make the jump in Macau. He was a bit hesitant, but then took the plunge like a champ. Well done!!! Here are some photos from Hong Kong and Macau.
Our first stop after leaving Hong Kong last Tuesday was Kuala Lumpur. A nice place. It reminds me a lot of Singapore, just less developed. The Petronas Towers are impressive though, especially at night. Everytime I see them, I think of that movie with Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Entrapment.
Traders hotel is where we stayed in KL. Our room had amazing views of the towers. If you ever stay there, book a table early at the Sky Bar with a view of the Towers. Watch out while walking to your table though as it's literally at the edge of the Sky Pool. We asked the servers if anyone has ever fallen into the pool while walking to their tables...the answer...many times... .
We didn't spend much time in KL, just a couple of days; enough though to get a taste of life there. Like in Hong Kong, there seems to be an abundance of shopping malls there with high end shops.
While there, we did visit the KL Bird Park which at first might sound a bit hokey, but it was actually quite nice. Basically it was a giant aviary in the middle of the city, with lots of exotic birds. Here are some photos from Kuala Lumpur.
After just a couple of days in KL, we were off to Phuket Thailand for some much needed sun and sand time. Unfortunately when we go there, the weather wasn't so nice. The forecast for all the days we were to be there was cloudy and rainy. It turned out alright though.
We booked this great Sea Canoe excursion, which I would totally recommend. We spent a whole afternoon and evening on the water. Each sea canoe was piloted by guide, so all we had to do was sit back and enjoy the view. One of the guides even looked like Morgan Freeman. The caves and islands we explored were just amazing. One island called Hong Island is actually hollow in the middle, and to get to the center, you had to enter through one of the sea cave entrances. Check out the photos from our sea canoe adventure.
After an afternoon of being chauferred around, we had some free time to go canoeing ourselves. We decided to have a race with a couple from Denmark, and a couple from Korea. So it was Canada vs Denmark and Korea for gold...guess who one... :)
Our resort in Phuket, the Westin Siray Bay was nice. A bit far from the action of Paton Beach, but in a beautiful setting. Check out the photos from Phuket.
Next stop now is Taiwan for a couple of day before heading back to Hong Kong. Man time flies when you're having fun...
